BlueHenMomma On the Road

It’s so close to summer, I can taste it. As a teacher, I put my whole energy into my job. Almost too much at times because I am exhausted when I get home and feel bad that I can’t always keep up when my children want to play.

As I said before, the past 4 years have been extremely difficult for my family. Between my husband and I, we have lost 3 parents in 3 years. My children have lost 3 of their 4 grandparents. My mother-in-law has lost her husband. Dealing with their illnesses, moving, personally working toward and earning a Master’s Degree, raising two pretty amazing girls, working with my husband to keep our relationship strong… I’m getting tired again just reading this. And this doesn’t even cover all the minutia that we all deal with every single day. We’re tired. We’re a little disconnected. We want to fix that.

Enter the “Epic Road Trip”.

In October before my Father-in-Law passed, we bought a 30 foot Travel Trailer. He is lovingly named Bob The Behemoth (or Millennium Vacation according to my husband, but it just doesn’t roll off the tongue as easily).

Bob is a 2016 Coleman Bunk House. It’s bigger than we originally thought we would purchase for our first ever RV but it was so nice, and the Epic Road Trip that we are taking made us move up in size. It can comfortably fit 2 adults, 2 kids, and 2 dogs (granted, they are little puffballs).

Here’s Bob all set up in his natural environment.

So, our Epic Road Trip. We are taking 42 days to travel in a North Eastern triangular loop. We’re set to leave on Monday, June 19th and won’t return until August 1st. My husband didn’t travel much as a kid so he wanted to see the North East first. We’re leaving Delaware, heading West to Tennessee, then traveling North to Maine, and completing the loop back to Delaware.

We have the first 32 days reserved at campgrounds to make life a little easier on knowing where we’re going but are having some difficulty deciding where to head after we leave Maine. If you can imagine, it takes a lot of time and effort to plan such a long trip! Who’d a thunk it?

So, for the summer, we’re temporarily BlueHenMomma Family On the Road.

We’re leaving with 6 souls. We plan to return with 6 souls. But it’s 42 days in a trailer. We’ll see how this goes!

I hope you guys have a great summer and I’ll try to post some of our adventures.
